They quit their job to make a living from trading
VIDEO. Dozens of people decide to quit their jobs every year and gamble on trading to make a living. This choice is not without risk, as the AMF has just pointed out in a study.
Is trading a new El Dorado for people who are unhappy with their job? Each year dozens of employees decide to quit their jobs and try to make a living from trading. "I found a way with which I can make a living, trading was a way out for me", underlines Stéphane, 46, who stopped his trade as an intermittent of the show to start trading on account clean in 2013. Others like Linda followed the same path. This 30-year-old esthetician, passionate about the stock market, has chosen to quit her job and start from scratch by making "Futures" - futures contracts allowing the negotiation, purchase or sale of assets in the future - and options market its new daily. "Trading allowed me to
However, embarking on own account become a funded trader with little or no experience in the financial markets is not within everyone's reach. "Many people who get into it do not have the necessary skills, says Jean-Louis Cussac, founder of Perceval Finance which offers trading training in particular. To trade, you need the basics. The stock market is not not just technique, you have to have a global understanding of the markets and be well trained. For example, 95% of people lose everything in a few years by playing derivatives in particular. "
"In one day I lost 8,000 euros"
And for those who are not from the world of finance, the beginnings are often painful. "I made all the possible and unimaginable mistakes when I started, says Jean-Louis, ex-sales manager at Yellow Pages. In one day I lost 8,000 euros. And in those moments, the psychological pressure is huge, there are people who explode because when you are in a panic you do anything. It is therefore very important to follow the good advice and to do training. "
After the difficult moments, do these neo-traders manage to generate an income? "It took me a few years to get there, but now I am earning between 1,500 and 2,000 euros per month thanks to the grant for an initial investment of 80,000 euros," replied Linda. Stéphane is in much the same situation. "I invested 170,000 euros at the start and I have been able to have a small income for a few months, he specifies. But it must also be said that our capital is our working tool so we cannot hit it too much" .
Several of these traders for own account also point the finger at the risks of being tricked by the thousands of attractive offers that abound on the internet. "At first I was dealing with a scammer and I lost 15,000 euros in history," says Linda. "Many are in fact tricked into training, supports Jean-Louis Cussac. There are too many, but above all the problem is that many people who do not succeed in the stock market become trainers."
The profusion of these websites which offer to earn a lot of money in a very short time has just been the subject of a study by the Autorité des Marchés Financiers (AMF) , published on Monday October 13. According to the AMF, between 2009 and 2012 scams related to the Forex market - foreign exchange market - in France, killed 13,224 people, who lost a total of 175 million euros. Over these three years of investigation, the AMF also calculated that nine out of ten clients are losers in the Forex market.
